Physics 222, Fall 2009. This course covers modern physics concepts including relativity, quantum mechanics, and their applications in atomic physics, condensed matter, nuclear physics, and particle physics.
This is a demanding and accelerated course designed for Honors students who are not majoring in physical science, but who have a strong interest in it. It requires intensive reading, reasoning about the interpretation of observations, and an ability to write analytically in good English. Well-prepared freshman through seniors are welcome. This fall, we will focus on original writings of scientists from the ancient Greeks to modern times.
